This picture (drawn by one of my little ones) is about what I look like and feel like...perhaps I feel more like the Nutty Professor when his hands and feet are huge. Anyway, thanks to my special friend who drew this picture. You made me laugh!

They Won!
Feb/24/2008 10:05 PM
Glen Hasard and Marketa
Irglova won an Oscar for best song "Falling Slowly"
in a movie (Once)...it was so wonderful! Their
performance was amazing. I never truly care about who
wins or loses...but I am so excited for them.
"Falling slowly" is one of the best written songs I
have heard in a while...you must get it on your ipod.
Okay, I think that will be my last post on "Once" but
I can't be sure...

I was on my way to work at 6:40 a.m. listening to Kidd Kraddick in the morning...nothing makes me happier on the way to work than Starbucks. Anyway, Kidd was talking about the movie "Once" and how he missed the last 8 minutes of the movie and that if anyone knew the ending to call in. Of course I love that movie and would love to be on the radio telling Kidd about the ending. Immediately I was scrolling through my phone...I used to have 106.1 on speed dial, but neglected to put it in favorites when I got a new phone. I finally found the number and called...I got through...I was so excited...but they had already found their caller. Sad...
The Perfect Valentine's Movie.

I rarely do this...but this movie is awesome. Now you have to get over the "indy-ness" of it if you are used to the tens of millions of dollars of production value in a typical Hollywood film. This movie is about a starving musician in Dublin who meets someone who inspires him and their story...the music is amazing and is performed throughout the whole movie. Creative lyrics and beautiful harmony...one of the songs is nominated for an Oscar. Caleb and I cannot stop listening to the soundtrack. This movie is sweet and let your significant other know it is not a chick flick. Let me know if you've seen it.
P.S. I wrote "The Perfect Valentine's Movie" but it is really good anytime...Caleb and I actually do not celebrate Valentine's Day...we will be watching "Lost."
Remembering Nana.

Today is the one year anniversary of my grandmother's passing. I found this picture of her when she was pregnant when I was scrolling through the photos we used in the slideshow at the funeral.
I can't believe that it has been a year... in some ways I feel like I just saw her the other day and in others ways it feels like ages. I have been reminded of how the Lord gave us time to have a Thanksgiving meal together and pray before she passed...I am reminded that we were able to be by her side in her final days...what a gift.
I am totally filled with joy knowing that she is resting at peace with God, but so sad not to have her at this exciting time in my life. She has always been a part of our lives...small things or big things. God is so good...he works everything out in His perfect timing...and I know that this new life will be a reminder of His love and goodness.
I love you Nana and I miss you so much...I remember you in these songs...and always in my mom.

Today was our 5 year anniversary! It is slightly comical that on our 5 year anniversary I am at home alone blogging and Caleb is at Pine Cove leading worship for a retreat (being 33 weeks pregnant will eventually make you want to slow down). We have had more than our fill of adventures and alone time, so although I wish we were together doing something special... and I am okay with sitting this one out. I am completely content with my roses, card, frame, and new lunchbox that Caleb surprised me with this morning.
We celebrate our anniversaries with the traditional gifts that we decide together in advance, so no pressure on finding the perfect gift...only the perfect card:
1st year- paper -framed wedding invitation.
2nd year- cotton- T-shirts from Sundance Film Festival.
3rd year-leather- family Bible.
4th year-linen-table cloth.
5th year-wood- Nativity set.
All this to say...time flies when you are having fun...have you heard that song by Five for Fighting called "100 years"? That is how time is passing for me right now...faster and faster. It feels like we just got married. And soon we will be three...
I truly thank God for my most wonderful amazing husband in the world...who does so many simple things everyday to show me that he loves me, if I were to tell them to you...you wouldn't believe it...
Happy Anniversary Caleb...may all of your good return to you...

Caleb and I were so grateful to get to go to Fond du
Lac, WI to work with Community Church for their
Snowblast Retreat. We met Community Church through
Mission Discovery and have been blessed getting to
know them. Snow falling, good friends, a frozen lake,
hot chocolate, great teaching and worship, and a last
trip before the baby comes...
Our journey started at the DFW airport when we ran into the Shanes at 6:30a.m.at Terminal E. So good to see old friends!
When we got to WI it was 1 degree F...but that was okay...I love the cold! Here are the highlights from the trip.
Beautiful church in Fondy.
We heart snow.
Broomball...a tradition...a cross between soccer and hockey. Caleb learned quickly that it was not without a cost:)
He got the hang of it and got much better:)
Here is Caleb's Team (made up mainly of 7th graders). They were called the "Mighty Broominators."
Caleb went tubing for the 1st time...and I got to go one time too!
Worship.
Shannon, Leslie, and Alena.
Our cabin...it's so cute...no bathroom though, I had to put on my boots and jacket in the middle of the night and head to the dining hall 3x a night:) Loved it anyway!
Molly, Lauren, & a very pregnant me.
What a perfect trip. A huge thanks to Community Church and the Sweeneys for a wonderful weekend. We love you!
